Body found in burning car in Williams County

ALVORDTON, Ohio - One person was found dead in a burning car just south of U.S. 20 in rural northeastern Williams County early yesterday, authorities said.

Identification of the person, who was found in a 2003 Toyota Corolla with Indiana registration, was pending an autopsy to be performed today by the Lucas County Coroner's Office, a news release from the Williams County Sheriff's Office said.

Emergency workers were called to County Road 19, less than a half mile south of U.S. 20, in Mill Creek Township at 5:22 a.m., the release said. The occupant was declared dead at the scene.

The sheriff's investigation was continuing last night.
