NAPOLEON - An Ottawa-Glandorf High School student hurt in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday in Henry County was in serious condition last night in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Jessica Beutler, 17, of Ottawa, Ohio, was flown from the accident scene to St. Vincent.

She was a backseat passenger in a car with three other girls, all Ottawa-Glandorf High students. They were on their way to attend a district volleyball tournament at Liberty Center High School, Ottawa-Glandorf Principal William Hanna said.

Brittany Kiracofe, 17, of Ottawa was northbound on State Rt. 109 in Henry County's Liberty Township about 6:40 p.m. Tuesday when she failed to stop at a stop sign before turning left onto U.S. 24, Troopers at the Ohio Highway Patrol's Bowling Green post said.

Her car and an eastbound sport utility vehicle driven by Mickey Avalos, 39, of Swanton collided, troopers said.

Miss Kiracofe and Miss Beutler were taken by helicopter to St. Vincent. Miss Kiracofe was discharged yesterday, a hospital spokesman said.

Passengers Allison Schroeder, 18, and Abbie Selhorst, 17, both of Ottawa, were treated at Wood County Hospital. All in the car wore seat belts, troopers said.

Mr. Avalos was taken to Henry County Hospital in Napoleon. The hospital would not release his condition.

Liberty Center is about 30 miles southwest of Toledo.
