A 22-year-old Toledo man was in critical condition in Toledo Hospital last night after his car crashed into a West Toledo apartment building early yesterday morning, police said.

Bryan S. Barbee, who police said suffered a head injury in the crash, was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and reckless operation.

He was driving north on Lewis Avenue about 1:10 a.m. and tried to turn left onto West State Line Road when the car went off the north side of the road and went over a curb, police said.

The rear of the car went airborne and the car spun around on its front end, with the bottom of the car coming to rest against the Northridge apartment building at 1000 West State Line, police said.

No one in the building was hurt, but rescue workers forced entry into an apartment in their work with the car and Mr. Barbee.
