There are 8,943 permanent seats at Fifth Third Field, and the Mud Hens home also has plenty of room for people to stand around and watch a baseball game.

The result has been a record-setting attendance boon for Toledo s Triple-A baseball team.

Last season, nearly 600,000 fans filled the park to watch the Hens win their third consecutive International League West Division title. That total was one of the highest in minor-league baseball and marked the sixth straight year the Mud Hens surpassed the half-million mark in season attendance.

That s especially impressive when you consider a Toledo franchise had never drawn even 350,000 fans before the downtown ballpark was opened in 2002.

But some seats at Fifth Third Field are better than others.
