A Whitehouse man was hurt seriously yesterday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a road sign and he was thrown from it on Strayer Road in Monclova Township, authorities said.

Bruce K. Bauer, 51, was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, after the 4:12 p.m. accident. Information on condition was not available, a hospital spokesman said.

Mr. Bauer was southbound on Strayer a mile south of Salisbury Road when he lost control of his motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet, and the Ohio Highway Patrol's Toledo post described his injuries as "incapacitating."
