Ex-Sandusky chief appeals her firing

SANDUSKY - Sandusky's ousted police chief, Kim Nuesse, has appealed her dismissal with the city's civil service commission.

Ms. Nuesse, the city's first female police chief, was fired last week after the release of a 560-page report criticizing her job performance.

She appealed the decision Friday, city manager Matthew Kline said.

Ms. Nuesse was hired in August, 2006. Her critics have alleged she used wrong information in applying for state grants and has prematurely called for the replacement of the police department's computer system at a cost of more than $300,000.
