Oregon schools expected to fill positions today

The Oregon Board of Education is to meet this morning to fill the void left at Clay High School when Principal Michael Zalar was named the district s new superintendent.

The board is expected to extend a three-year contract to Loren Dirr to become the new principal of Clay. He has been with the Oregon district for more than 33 years.

Mr. Zalar had been principal of Clay since 2002.

The board also is expected to extend three-year contracts to Dawn Henry as principal of Coy Elementary, Jeffrey Thompson as principal of Eisenhower Middle School, and James Jurski as assistant principal of Clay.

In addition, the board is expected to accept the resignation of Coy Principal Lonny Rivera, who recently was hired as the chief of staff for Toledo Public Schools.
