Ida man driving ATV killed in vehicular accident

IDA, Mich. An ATV driver was killed early Wednesday when his vehicle collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Ida West Road and Haines Road, about two miles west of Ida.

Chad J. Balogh, 30, of Ida, was pronounced dead at the scene. Monroe County Sheriff s deputies said he was operating a 2006 Yamaha all-terrain vehicle north on Haines about 6:45 a.m. and failed to yield for a stop sign at Ida West, where he was struck by an eastbound 2004 Ford F-150 driven by Lee Larzelere.

Mr. Larzelere, 26, of Petersburg, Mich., was not hurt. Mr. Balogh was not wearing a helmet.
