Toledo Walleye add Randy Rowe to veteran lineup

The Walleye signed one of the most decorated players in the history of the ECHL today.

Toledo added forward Randy Rowe, who played for the Walleye during the 2010-11 season, to its veteran lineup.

Rowe, 32, has played in 561 ECHL games and has scored 222 goals. Rowe, who started his pro career with Peoria in 2001, was selected as a member of the ECHL All-Decade Team in 2010.

Rowe played in 65 games for the Walleye during the 2010-11 season. He finished fourth on the team in scoring with 19 goals and 30 assists.

“Randy has been an outstanding player on the ice and a leader off the ice in this league for many years,” Walleye coach Nick Vitucci said. “To be able to bring Randy back to Toledo gives us a great scoring presence. All he has done is produce at nearly a point per game in his illustrious career.”

Rowe has amassed 491 points (222 goals and 269 assists) in his ECHL career. The 6-foot, 195 pound forward has picked up 530 career points (238 G, 292 A) in his career, which includes 101 games in the American Hockey League.

The Burford, Ontario native was named the MVP of the 2004 ECHL all-star game.

Last season, Rowe played with the Trenton Titans and scored 20 goals along with 21 assists in 61 games. Rowe has also skated for Johnstown and Charlotte in his professional career.

The Walleye open the regular season Oct. 13 at the Huntington Center against Kalamazoo.
