Fire hits Collingwood Boulevard home

Fire of suspicious origin caused $30,000 damage to a home in the 3200 block of Collingwood Boulevard this morning.

Battalion Fire Chief Bryce Blair, Jr., said it appeared the fire started on the front porch of the home at 3223 Collingwood. The blaze, which was reported at !2:48 a.m.worked its way up the front of the structure and into the attic area. There also was some fire damage to the basement. Chief Blair called for an investigator to pinpoint the cause of the blaze.

He estimated structural damage to the house at $20,000 and $10,000 to its contents. Chief Blair said the home's occupant, Rose Holden, was not at home when the fire broke out. He added the home is owned by Ms. Holden's grandparent, Henryne Moore.
