Napoleon police officer crashes cruiser on way to join pursuit

Napoleon -- A Napoleon police officer was injured overnight when the police cruiser he was driving failed to negotiate a curve, went off the road, struck a utility pole and a small tree, and overturned in a field, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at about 1:40 a.m. today just east of Napoleon on County Road 3, west of County Road 11, in Henry County's Harrison Township.

Officer Bradley Strickland, 28, was eastbound on County Road 3, responding to assist the Henry County Sheriff’s Office with a vehicle pursuit when the crash occurred, according to the patrol.

He was wearing his seat belt and his injuries were not life-threatening. He was taken to Henry County Hospital.
