FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Ohio State star defensive end Noah Spence has been suspended three games for an unspecified Big Ten rules violation, the school announced today.

The sophomore Spence did not make the trip to the Orange Bowl and will miss the first two games of next season.

A statement from OSU said Spence's parents disagreed with the rules violation and the penalty imposed and were assisted by the university in exhausting the Big Ten appeals process.

The seventh-ranked Buckeyes play No. 12 Clemson in Friday night's Orange Bowl. Spence, who led the Buckeyes with eight sacks this season, will practiced with the team in the spring.
