Flood warnings, wind advisories issued

Flood warnings and wind advisories have been issued across the region for today.

The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for the Portage River at Woodville, Maumee River near Grand Rapids and Waterville, and Eagle Creek above Findlay.

For the Maumee River near Grand Rapids, the weather service forecasts moderate flooding. Flood stage is 15 feet and the weather service predicts the river will rise above that level this afternoon and hit 17.9 feet by Saturday evening with additional rises possible. If the river would reach 18 feet, water would start to cover Front Street, just west of the business district and the campgrounds along the river would be underwater.  

Moderate flooding is also forecast for the Maumee River at Waterville where flood stage is 9 feet. The forecast is for the river to rise above flood stage this afternoon and rise to nearly 12.7 feet by Saturday evening with additional rises possible. At 12 feet, Side Cut Metropark is inundated.

Wind advisories are issued for 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. today for Lucas, Wood, Ottawa, Sandusky, Erie, Hancock, Seneca, Huron, and Wyandot counties locally.

Winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 45 mph are expected by the National Weather Service.
