    Oak Harbor girls, Eastwood boys win district titles

    Oak Harbor is used to hosting district track meets. Figuring out how to win a district team championship hadn't been part of the experience during Oak Harbor girls track coach John McKitrick's 16-year tenure. That finally changed Friday evening when the Rockets prevailed by the slimmest of margins to become a district champ. Eastwood claimed the boys championship with 102 points.     Springfield tops Notre Dame for a district title

    Springfield struck for instant runs to instantly erase some bad memories, avenge a loss, and capture a district championship on Friday.The Blue Devils got revenge for last year's season-ending loss to Notre Dame when they erupted for six runs in the fourth inning in a Division I district title game. Springfield advanced to the regional semifinals with an 8-2 win over the Eagles at Rolf Park in Maumee. READ MORE

    Clay tops Whitmer after early struggles

    After an early hiccup, the fifth-ranked Clay Eagles regrouped to pound Three Rivers Athletic Conference foe Whitmer 17-4 in five innings Friday night in a Division I district softball final at Fostoria High School. READ MORE

    Toledo Christian topples Cardinal Stritch to advance to regionals

    On Friday, Toledo Christian topped Cardinal Stritch 5-2 in a Division IV district final. The Eagles (19-6) can clinch the outright TAAC regular-season title with a win over Ottawa Hills on Tuesday before meeting Tinora in Thursday’s regional semifinal at Patrick Henry. READ MORE
