    The University of Toledo men's basketball team fell to Ball State 82-74 on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at Savage Arena. Jonathan Williams paced Toledo with 23 points, while Steve Taylor Jr. added 17 points and 15 rebounds.

    Toledo had its second straight month of above-average temperatures and below-average snowfall in February, and this was even more extreme than January.

    Paczkis were on sale at 3103 Lagrange St., at the corner of Central Ave., in the historic Polish Village, until 2 p.m. or when sold out on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017. They're the Polish tradition among Protestants and Catholics to indulge before Lent, which begins Wednesday.

    Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown brought his campaign to Toledo today to get President Donald Trump to live up to a campaign promise to undertake a $1 trillion infrastructure effort. He spoke at Toledo's public service garage, with 65 city employees and Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson in attendance.

  • Coast Guardsmen got to work preparing buoys for Lake Erie. Blade photographer Don Flory captured the men getting things ready on March 12, 1979.  From left to right are Coast Guardsmen Dava Jones, Michael Lafko, Darrell Banks, and Mark Krainock.  The floating buoys were checked at the Bay View Park Coast Guard station in Toledo. The work was part of an annual ritual of preparing channel markers for another year of shipping activity.  The buoys were taken ashore late each year, then scraped, painted, and repaired. When the ice was gone from Lake Erie, the markers were dropped in place to guide lake and ocean ships through the western end of the lake and into port.

    Ninth Congressional District Invitational Art Exhibition

    Amanda Gargac of Cardinal Stritch High School placed first in the 9th Congressional District Invitational Art Exhibition. Artists were recognized at One SeaGate Sunday by U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who sponsored the event with the Arts Commission. The works of art will be displayed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through March 8 in the lobby of Fifth Third Center at One SeaGate in downtown Toledo.
