    Kiln at 577 foundation extinguished

    The blaze that roars inside the Manabigama Wood Kiln at the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg has been extinguished for the year. Students, professional artists and community members fired more than 100 pieces of pottery art in the stove Monday, Nov. 17, 2014. The pottery will be sold at the Angelwood Gallery on Front Street in Grand Rapids, Ohio for the Holiday Open House this weekend.

    Toledo bishop gets keys to city

    Toledo Mayor D. Michael Collins met with Bishop Daniel Thomas on Nov. 21 in the mayor's office at One Government Center. The mayor gave the bishop a key to the city and a goblet and bottle of Toledo water. The bishop gave the mayor a commemorative medallion from his installation as bishop of the Toledo Diocese. Julia performed modern American composer Dan Forrest's "Requiem for the Living" alongside the award-winning Northern Kentucky School of Music Youth Sinfonia and the Voices of the Commonwealth. Julia is the daughter of Suzanne and Jay Yingling, Cincinnati and Toledo, and the grandaughter of Brigitte and Thomas Johnston, Perrysburg, and Jean Yingling, Maumee. Julia is a former member of the Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestra.
