Sylvania Triathlon

When the Sylvania Triathlon started more than 30 years ago, there were only a handful of women. On Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, the female athletes comprised just under half of the competitors. Jim Donaldson of Elite Endeavors, which has staged the annual event for 32 of its 34 years, estimated that about 40 percent of the participants were women, a sign of a growing number of female athletes.
