FEA beehotel19p Volunteers use natural materials to help craft an insect hotel for the Pollinator Project at the Lucas County Fairgrounds in Maumee. The project, which began as a grant from The Ohio State University and is run through its Lucas County extension, is geared toward raising awareness about the role bees play in nature. Groups of children from the Lucas County 4-H and a local Perrysburg Junior Girl Scout Troop turned out on Sunday, May 19, 2013, to help build an insect sanctuary. The structure will act as a place for various insects, including Mason and other types of bees, to lay their eggs and inhabit. THE BLADE/KATIE RAUSCH
