Toledoan, 19, gets 5 years for role in robbery attempt

3/30/2001

A Toledo man was sentenced to five years in prison yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for his involvement in a botched robbery at a local Burger King restaurant.

Frederick R. Wilson, 19, of 603 Secor Rd., was sentenced to five years for aggravated robbery and three years for felonious assault. Judge James Bates ordered that the sentences be served concurrently. Wilson faced a maximum of 18 years in prison.

Lou Kountouris, an assistant county prosecutor, said Wilson and another man entered the Burger King at 1441 Secor Rd. at 9 p.m. Jan. 24 and asked for money.

He said Wilson's co-defendant, Rashaun Williams, 18, of 837 Broer Ave., hit the manager in the jaw with a gun. The men fled with no money when police arrived. Both were later apprehended.

Mr. Williams' case is pending. He faces the same charges to which Wilson pleaded guilty.
