Deli owner seeks seat on council

7/11/2001

Dennis Lange, a Toledo restaurateur and Old West End activist, announced yesterday that he will seek one of six at-large seats up for grabs on Toledo city council.

He said he will emphasize the need to improve police protection in the city and to improve business conditions for small businesses.

He said that, if elected, he will advocate that council hold some meetings at neighborhood halls around the city so residents can attend them without traveling downtown.

He said he would work for city policies that encourage “recycling” of older buildings, and would discourage new “big box stores,” which are large retailers.

Mr. Lange, 48, is endorsed by the Lucas County Republican Party.

He owns Pumpernickel's Deli and Caf on Collingwood Boulevard.
