FREMONT - A Port Clinton man has filed a civil suit against two people convicted of conspiring to shoot him a year ago.

Jarrod Skinner's lawsuit, filed last week in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court, seeks compensatory and punitive damages of more than $25,000 from Christy Claussen, 41, of Gibsonburg, and Tyrias Johnson, 26, of Fremont. Claussen, who ordered the shooting, and Johnson, who carried it out, are each serving 13 years in prison for the Sept. 25, 2000 attack.

Skinner, 34, who was shot in the head and right arm, survived but suffered permanent damage, including paralysis of his right arm and numbness of his nasal cavity and palate, according to the suit. The filing claims that Skinner incurred medical bills of more than $20,000 because of the shooting.

Also named in the suit is Jimmy Miller, 47, of Gibsonburg. Mr. Miller was charged in the shooting but several felony counts were dropped in May.
