HILLSDALE — A Paulding, Ohio, man was sentenced in Hillsdale County Circuit Court on three charges, including operating and maintaining a drug lab.

Gary Stemen, 29, was sentenced Monday by Judge Michael Smith to 16 months to two years in prison for attempted assault with a dangerous weapon and another term of three to 10 years in prison for operating and maintaining a drug lab. The terms will be served consecutively. Stemen pleaded guilty to a third charge of possession of marijuana and was sentenced to a concurrent term of 12 months in the Hillsdale County Jail.

According to court records, the attempted assault charge was the result of an Oct. 1 assault on another man using metal knuckles. The drug charges were filed after a Nov. 10 search of Stemen's home.
