Tiffin man found in contempt

TIFFIN - A former Tiffin man was found in contempt of court yesterday after refusing to speak at his arraignment on charges of slashing his estranged wife in the face and leg during a dispute.

Anthony L. Goodman, 33, remained in the Seneca County Jail without bond after Tiffin Municipal Court Judge Mark Repp issued the contempt finding and continued Mr. Goodman's arraignment until Monday.

Tiffin police Chief David LaGrange said Mr. Goodman, who walked away from a halfway house in Mansfield, Ohio, earlier this month, showed up Thursday morning at his wife's home on Sixth Avenue and demanded to see the couple's 2-year-old son.

When Mrs. Goodman, who was holding the child, refused, Mr. Goodman pushed open the front door and slashed her with a box cutter. Her facial injuries required 16 stitches to close, the chief said. Mr. Goodman was charged with aggravated burglary, felonious assault, and child endangerment.
