Toledo woman sentenced for Seneca County cocaine deal

4/5/2005

TIFFIN - A Toledo woman was sentenced yesterday to four years in prison for her involvement in the sale of crack cocaine.

Olivia M. Woods, 25, formerly of Warsaw Avenue, was given a four-year term for tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and 17-month sentences for counts of complicity to trafficking in crack cocaine and possession of crack cocaine in an amount exceeding 1 gram, both fourth-degree felonies. Judge Michael Kelbley of Seneca County Common Pleas Court ordered all three prison terms to be served concurrently.

According to county Prosecutor Ken Egbert, Jr., Woods helped Frederick Ford, 25, of Toledo sell 2.52 grams of crack to an undercover informant at a Fostoria motel on Nov. 5, 2004. Authorities said Woods received $200 as part of the transaction.

After the sale, officers of the Seneca County Drug Task Force converged on the couple's car and Ford sped off. During the chase, Woods threw a plastic bag containing crack out of the car, and officers recovered it near Thomas Street, Mr. Egbert said.
