Findlay man sentenced in Internet sex case

7/1/2005

A Findlay man who was seeking to meet a 15-year-old girl in an Internet chat room, but instead was arrested by a Toledo detective was sentenced yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Joshua Martin, 25, was placed on community control for five years by Judge Charles Doneghy.

He pleaded no contest on May 31 to one count each of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance and importuning and was found guilty.

Martin was arrested Feb. 8 in the McDonald's parking lot at Front and Main streets, where he was to meet a girl who turned out to be the police officer.

A diskette containing images of partially clothed juveniles was found in his vehicle.

Judge Doneghy ordered Martin to serve four months in a county work-release program and participate in the county's adult probation sexual abuse program. He also was ordered to have no access to a computer in his home.
