Results double at Owens Corning

8/4/2005

Owens Corning said yesterday that profits doubled in the second quarter to $67 million from $33 million in the same period last year as a result of a strong housing market, price increases, and heavy demand for roofing shingles in hurricane-ravaged areas of the southern United States.

Sales at the Toledo manufacturer of building materials and fiber glass rose 14 percent to $1.6 billion from $1.4 billion in the second quarter of 2004.
