FREMONT A Marblehead man who killed his former girlfriend and a Fremont man was sentenced today to life in prison without the possibility of parole by the same three-judge panel that convicted him in March.

Jeffrey Zenowicz, 35, slashed the throat of Leslie Stone, 30, then drowned his former girlfriend, Claudia Fonseca, 40, in the bathtub at her home July 3, 2004.

Sandusky County Common Pleas Court Judges Harry Sargeant, Jr., and James Sherck and former 6th District Court of Appeals Court Judge Richard Knepper delivered his sentence after deliberating for 4 hours

Defense attorney Jeff Helmick had argued that Zenowicz s life should be spared because he suffered from a neuropsychological impairment, he had an abusive and unstable upbringing, he had accepted responsibility for his acts, and he was a loving and devoted father to his two sons.
