Toledo, firefighters reach contract accord

Negotiators for the city of Toledo and the union representing its firefighters have reached agreement on a new contract proposal, Mayor Carty Finkbeiner s office announced today.

Details of the tentative settlement are being withheld pending a rank-and-file vote by Firefighters Union Local 92, the mayor s office said. The vote is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 8.

The 479 members of Local 92 have been working without a contract since their previous pact expired Dec. 31.

The negotiating teams worked long and hard to forge this agreement, the mayor said in the announcement. It has been a long time coming and I am exceptionally proud of the people who worked on bringing this issue to closure.
