Trial slated for sheriff's ex-workers

A trial date of Jan. 2 has been scheduled for three former Lucas County sheriff's employees charged with felonies for an off-duty fight with a man at his West Toledo home.

Brian Wise, 24, of Whitehouse; Matthew Wise, 25, of 1124 Bernath Pkwy., and Timothy Holzemer, 26, of 327 West Poinsetta Ave., were arraigned yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Each defendant pleaded not guilty to one count of felonious assault and aggravated burglary. Judge Bates continued the supervised bond for each defendant and ordered them to have no contact with the victims.

The defendants, who were corrections officers in the county jail, were terminated Oct. 25 on administrative charges after an administrative hearing. They are accused in the beating of Jorge Hernandez Rodriguez, 25, at his Foth Drive home. The assault apparently occurred over a woman - Kimberly Bos-well, 28, also a corrections officer and a housemate of Mr. Rodriguez.

The dispute reportedly began in the early hours of Oct. 8 when Mr. Rodriguez returned to his North Toledo home to find Brian Wise with his housemate. Words were exchanged and Mr. Wise left, then returned with his brother, Matthew Wise, and Mr. Holzemer.

The three are accused of forcing their way into the home and assaulting the victim, authorities said.
