The break-in and rape occurred on Mother s Day morning, May 12, 2002. Sachs fled and the case remained unsolved until 2005.

In 2004, Sachs was convicted of felony fleeing and eluding. Following procedure, the Monroe County Sheriff s Office collected a DNA sample.
