8/4/2007

TIFFIN The first of 21 people charged in connection with a large-scale drug trafficking operation in Fostoria was sentenced Thursday by Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff to 20 years in prison.

Alexa R. Johnson, 20, of Fostoria, pleaded guilty and was convicted of 18 drug-related felonies, including her role in a Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organization, selling more than 100 grams of crack cocaine, and possessing more than 200 grams of crack cocaine on two separate occasions in Fostoria.

As part of an agreement with prosecutors, she will testify in the other pending drug cases.

This 20-year prison sentence is intended to send a message to persons who sell crack cocaine or have plans to come to Fostoria and the Seneca County area that substantial sentences will be handed down, Seneca County Prosecutor Ken Egbert, Jr., said in a statement.
