2 area projects among 4 OK d for state assistance

Two northwest Ohio projects and two elsewhere in the state were approved for assistance yesterday from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority.

ZincOx Resources PLC received a 10-year tax credit, worth $192,100, for a $95 million project in Fulton County, creating 50 jobs, for recovering and processing zinc from waste materials in a new factory. It will use a furnace to produce zinc concentrate and pig iron, used in a range of products. The facility is on 17 acres in York Township. The new jobs will pay $14.50 an hour on average.

American Stone Corp., also called Cleveland Quarries, received a seven-year tax credit for a $3.1 million project in Erie County that is to create 73 jobs and retain 32. The new jobs are to pay $11 an hour on average. The firm, which digs and fabricates sandstone in quarries spanning more than 1,000 acres, will acquire two buildings and 15 acres for added work in Vermillion.
