Ice falls on new bridge, 2 lanes closed about 6 hours

Two of the three southbound lanes of I-280 on the Veterans Glass City Skyway were closed for about six hours today after ice fell on the bridge deck, causing a traffic accident, authorities said.

There were no reports of serious injury, according to the Lucas County EMS.

The Ohio Department of Transportation closed the lanes shortly after the two-car accident occurred about 10:10 a.m.

The lanes were cleared of the ice, and traffic on the bridge returned to normal about 4 p.m., ODOT spokesman Theresa Pollick said.
