Second man indicted in 2002 beating case

12/11/2007

A second man recently arrested for the severe beating of an East Toledo man five years ago was indicted yesterday by the Lucas County grand jury.

Kevin Clapsaddle, 22, of 470 Parker Ave., was charged with felonious assault for the July 8, 2002, beating of David Dusseau, 51, in his home at 440 Raymer Blvd. Mr. Clapsaddle is free on his own recognizance, and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Also indicted in the case was Raymond Cox, 22, who was charged last month with felonious assault.

Authorities believe Mr. Dusseau was hit in the head several times with a pipe. The left side of his body is paralyzed and he lost his right eye as a result of injuries from the beating.

Cox is serving nine years in the Allen Correctional Institution, Lima, Ohio, for a 2002 involuntary manslaughter conviction in the death of Craig Coulter, 41. He also was indicted recently on two counts of murder in the deaths of Theodore Goodacre, 53, and Reginald Darnell Jones, 37.
