The parking lot to the west of the Stranahan Theater will be barricaded for Friday night s production of The Lion King as a dispute between the trust that owns the theater and the owner of the parking lot escalates.

Ward Whiting, executive director of the Stranahan Trust, said Friday afternoon that workers for the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, which owns the parking lot land, were placing the barricades, but there will still be adequate parking in adjacent lots for this weekend s shows.

He said The Lion King is "virtually sold out" Friday, Saturday, and Sunday but theatergoers should not have any trouble finding parking in the lots to the east of the 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. theater.

The Scottish Rite wants the non profit trust that owns the Stranahan to pay a fee to use the 391-space west parking lot. But the trust wants to buy the land from the Scottish Rite, which moved off the property in October.

The two sides are continuing negotiations.
