6/19/2008

The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio received a $18,875 grant from the Toledo Community Foundation to start an in-home instruction program, the center in South Toledo announced yesterday.

The program will complement existing classes at the Sight Center, 101 Garden Lake Pkwy., that help visually impaired and blind students ages 5 to 19 to be independent.

The daily-living classes teach students to cook, clean, sew, and plan meals. Specialized computer technology skills also are taught.

The new program will offer free individualized in-home training and instruction to students in the activities of daily-living classes as well as low-vision evaluations and aids.
