CYGNET, Ohio A Georgia toddler was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday on northbound I-75 after his mother fell asleep at the wheel on their holiday trip to Toronto, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Dylan Flight, 3, of Suwanee, Ga., was riding in a child-safety seat that was improperly harnessed and ejected from the 1999 Ford Explorer when it crashed in Wood County s Bloom Township at about 6:50 a.m. The boy was taken to Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, where he was pronounced dead, troopers at the patrol s Bowling Green post said.

Kathy Flight, 34, also of Suwanee, was at the wheel near Milepost 170 when she fell asleep, drifted into the median, and over-corrected, causing the SUV to veer back across the northbound lanes and leave the right shoulder. It overturned and struck a ditch and a fence before coming to rest on Grant Road, which parallels the freeway, troopers said.

Mrs. Flight and her other passengers, husband Darrell Flight, 33, and younger son, Devin Flight, 21 months, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, troopers said. The two adults wore seatbelts and the younger child was properly secured in a safety seat.

Mrs. Flight and her son Devin were released from Wood County Hospital after treatment. Mr. Flight was listed in fair condition in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, a hospital spokesman said.

Cygnet is about 30 miles south of Toledo.
