Shakespeare contest takes center stage at the Toledo Repertoire Theater

The Toledo Branch of the English-Speaking Union of the United State presents the 2009 Shakespeare Competition at the Toledo repertoire Theater in Toledo, Ohio on February 22, 2009. Winners of competitions in area high schools have earned the right to compete regionally, delivering selected monologues from Shakespeare's plays, as well as sonnets. The only Toledo public school participating is Bowsher High School. The winner is awarded an all-expense paid trip top New York City for the National competition in April.     The group presented the competition Sunday at the Toledo Repertoire Theater.

    Winners of similar events at area high schools advanced to Sunday's regional tournament. Mr. Thompson was awarded an all-expensepaid trip to New York City for the national competition, which is scheduled from April 25 to 29.
