Cannon Paper, a Toledo paper distributor, to close

Cannon Paper Co., a wholesale distributor of paper products in Toledo s central city, will close March 31 after more than five decades in business.

The last day of normal business will be Friday, said Tony Cannon, president. The company, 152 Hamilton St., employs 22.

It was founded in 1952 in Toledo. Mr. Cannon declined Tuesday to discuss reasons for the closing, other than to say: "It was based on a decision of the shareholders. This was a good exit strategy for us." The firm s book-publishing division was sold to a competitor in Michigan, he added.
