Woman who served time for fatal crash is freed

2/25/2009

A Toledo woman sent to prison in 2006 after causing a drunken-driving crash that killed her niece was granted judicial release yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Voncile Bradley, 46, served nearly three years of a four-year sentence before she was released. Judge Ruth Ann Franks modified the sentence to four years community control, including mandatory urinalysis and alcohol treatment programs.

Bradley s blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit Sept. 16, 2005, when she collided with another vehicle, killing Lotina Saunders, 27. She pleaded no contest March 27, 2006, to one count each of aggravated vehicular homicide and attempted vehicular assault. She had been convicted of 24 misdemeanor crimes, including loitering, resisting arrest, criminal trespass, and drunken driving.

Judge Franks said that any violations of her release could lead Bradley back to prison.
