Toledo pair indicted in dogfighting case

Two Toledo men were indicted by a Lucas County grand jury yesterday on charges of dogfighting.

Goldy Thompson, 32, and Gordon Hood, 26, were each charged with two counts of dogfighting one charge for engaging in dogfighting and the other for witnessing the fights.

According to police, officers were called to Chase Elementary, 3315 Mayo St., about 5:45 p.m. April 18 about a large group of people who had gathered. Police said about 50 people were watching two dogs fighting. The two men, who allegedly were holding leashes of the dogs, were arrested after the crowd scattered. Mr. Thompson also faces charges in Toledo Municipal Court for drug abuse after officers found what was suspected to be marijuana in his pocket. Both men are free on bond.
