Penta to buy building in Maumee for classes

The Penta Career Center board has agreed to buy a Maumee building for $630,000 to house its career-based intervention program for students from Maumee, Anthony Wayne, and Springfield high schools.

The 5,200-square-foot building, a former massage therapy school at 370 Osage Circle, also is to be used for adult education classes, Penta Treasurer Carrie Herringshaw said. It will not require improvements other than installation of pull-station fire alarms, she said.

Students in the program attend classes for half a day and work in the community the other half.

The Maumee program is housed in a building on Illinois Avenue that costs Penta about $2,500 a month for rent and utilities, Ms. Herringshaw said.
