OAK HARBOR - An Oak Harbor man was hurt critically yesterday when his motorcycle was struck by a sport utility vehicle that ran a stop sign, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Jackie Bartrom, 49, was eastbound on Salem-Carroll Road in Salem Township, about 30 miles east of Toledo in Ottawa County, around 1:45 p.m. when his motorcycle was hit by the SUV, troopers said. The driver, Damian McAtee of Oak Harbor, was southbound on Leutz Road and failed to yield at a stop sign, troopers said.

Mr. Bartrom, who was not wearing a helmet, was flown to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition last night. Mr. McAtee was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
