Patience asked from downtown fireworks parkers

BLADE STAFF

City officials ask everyone to be patient and obey law enforcement officers directing traffic downtown.

Drivers are asked to drive in on the side of downtown closest to where they will be going after the fireworks because getting through downtown causes additional gridlock.

Summit Street, Jackson, Adams, and Jefferson streets at St. Clair Street will be closed until after pedestrian and vehicle traffic clears the area after the fireworks.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Bridge will be open for boat traffic after the fireworks and once that clears, it will open for pedestrians and vehicle traffic.

Vehicles parked in the High Tower and Edison parking garages on Summit will be held about a half hour until pedestrians are cleared from Summit. Those parked in the Port Lawrence and Superior Street garages will be directed by law enforcement.

Parking will not be allowed on Marina Drive or the grassy area between Front Street and Marina Drive. But parking is available in the surface parking lots in the Skyway Marina and the gravel areas between the Steam Plant and Front Street.

Optimist Park at Front and Morrison Drive will be available for parking.

Tow trucks will be on duty to remove illegally parked vehicles before and during the events.

The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority will hold its 10:10 p.m. line-up buses in downtown Toledo until 20 minutes after the conclusion of Mud Hens’ fireworks or the city show, whichever ends last.

Muddy shuttle buses also will not leave Fifth Third Field until 20 minutes after the fireworks finale.
