Fostoria motorcyclist who struck deer dies

A Fostoria man hurt critically when his motorcycle struck a deer in northwestern Seneca County died Friday in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Jerry Duryea, 48, was pronounced dead at 12:25 p.m. He had suffered serious head injuries, and was flown from the accident site to St. Vincent.

The crash occurred about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Liberty Township Road 71 south of County Road 42, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Mr. Duryea was northbound when his motorcycle struck the deer. The impact caused the motorcycle to overturn and threw Mr. Duryea to the road. He was not wearing a helmet, state troopers from the Fremont post said.
