TIFFIN - Tiffin police officers who fired at a man barricaded inside his home in May will not be criminally charged.

Seneca County Prosecutor Derek DeVine said Thursday that a grand jury had heard evidence in the case and returned a "no bill" meaning no indictment was brought.

Officers shot and killed Benjamin A. Grimes, 30, after Mr. Grimes barricaded himself inside an East Perry Street home with at least two weapons. Officers spoke with Mr. Grimes for almost 90 minutes in an attempt to get him to surrender but when they entered the house he pointed a revolver at them.

"After completely reviewing the actions of the Tiffin Police Department, it is absolutely clear that the Tiffin Police Department did a good job under incredibly difficult circumstances," Mr. DeVine said.
