ERIE — Authorities investigated a suspected arson of a garage at 8397 South Telegraph Rd. which was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon, troopers at the Monroe post of the Michigan State Police said.

The blaze sparked an investigation by the Monroe County Fire Investigation Team.

The Erie Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire. A home on the property was unoccupied because it is being renovated, troopers said. A Jan. 11 blaze at a former gas station at 7428 South Telegraph Rd. in Bedford Township also is being investigated as arson.

Troopers asked anyone with information about either fire to call police. A reward of up to $5,000 is available. Tips may be e-mailed to reward@miarsonprevention.org or called to 1-800-44-ARSON.
