Man indicted in deaths of elderly Toledo couple

A Lucas County grand jury yesterday indicted Edgar Howard, 47, on two counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated robbery for the May invasion of a North Toledo home that resulted in a couple's slayings.

Authorities say Frances Fox, 88, died during the attack inside their home at 3373 Mulberry St., and her husband, Kenneth Fox, 75, died in December in Darlington House nursing home. He was knocked out and remained unconscious for days before calling 911 the afternoon of May 5, spending the last seven months of his life trying to recover from injuries.

Howard had been charged with a count each of aggravated murder and felonious assault. The assault charge was upgraded to aggravated murder after Mr. Fox died.
