3/9/2010

A state program that recognizes farm families for successfully managing natural and human resources is seeking nominations for its annual awards.

The Conservation Farmer Awards program is sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Soil and Water Resources and comes with a $400 award.

Nomination forms can be obtained from county soil and water conservation districts. Nominations are due May 1 and must be submitted to Ohio Farmer Magazine, 117 West Main St., Lancaster, OH, 43130.

Farmers, partnerships, and family farm cooperatives are eligible.

Judging is based on the use of new and traditional conservation techniques, comprehensive management, and willingness to share conservation information, experience, and philosophy.
