A man who was shot by a store owner during an alleged robbery attempt of a music store was indicted Monday by a Lucas County grand jury.

Steve James, 30, was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery with gun specifications and one count of having a weapon while under disability. If convicted, he faces up to 28 years in prison.

Toledo police responded to Allied Music, 2027 South Byrne Rd., at about 12:30 p.m. March 12. Police said the suspect entered the store asking about getting a job there. He left but returned a few minutes later and allegedly held a gun to the clerk's head.

The suspect was shot during an exchange of gunfire with Eric Bilger, who co-owns the store with his brother. The suspect was struck in the body and hand. Mr. Bilger has not been charged in the shooting.
